Ferris Cosmic

The “Ferris Cosmic” is a branch off of the Ferris Sweep 2.1 keyboard design, with custom graphics and minor aesthetic changes. My github repository for hardware design of the project is done in KiCAD and is located here: https://github.com/JWehle/ferris-cosmic The github repository for the firmware is done using ZMK and is modified by Kendra Plante (https://github.com/kp9001) for a custom keys layout, located here: https://github.com/kp9001/ferris-zmk (Image) Fully assembled Ferris Cosmic keyboard (Image) In the process of soldering keyboard ...

Upscaled Washington DC Metro System Map PCB

Project page for the upscaled 1.5X DC Metro PCB. The original starting point for this project is the DC Transistor project by Logan Arkema: https://dctransistor.com/ I took this original design and scaled it up by 1.5X. The original dimensions of the 12 inches by 12 inches, but I increased that to 18 inches by 18 inches and sized up all of the artwork to match this. I also took the “Bidirectional” version of the DC Transistor project, which used two sets of smaller RGB LEDs to represent the trains’ directions at each station, and sized those LEDs up to the larger 5050 LEDs to fit the larger space available on the board. The layout around the ESP12 controller was reworked to accommodate for the larger board size, and an inrush limiting circuit was added so that some larger capacitors could be used on the 5V line that powers all 270 of the LEDs.

LED Ring Light

Project page for a circular ring light of white LEDs. The goal of this project was to make an LED lighting fixture in custom sizes for lighting purposes, such as for a camera flash or lighting a lab bench. The circular shape makes the light emmitted circularly polarized to limit the linear polarization in a scene for photography purposes. (Image) Bare board (Image) Assembled board

Buck Converter Test Board

Project page for a test board for a 3.3V buck converter. This project uses a buck converter integrated circuit that integrates all the control components and the gate drivers into one part, but doesn’t include the buck converter MOSFETs allowing the designer to size the MOSFETs for the right currrent for the application. The part number is the RT8110BGJ8: https://www.richtek.com/assets/product_file/RT8110B/DS8110B-02.pdf (Image) Bare Board (Image) Assembled Board (Image) Testing Converter at 12V input, 3.3V output, and 2.0A load current.
